Used to spend lots of time here when I was younger

 

Almost every weekend during the year and lots of time in summer from about 1989 to about 1997. Sailing mostly.

Portoroz has definitely taken a turn for the better since then, Piran has always been timeless smile With some of the infrastructure issues inherent in such old places but lots of charm.

Making it largely inaccessible to cars has helped. As has the new mayor, who's from Ghana (I believe the only one in Slovenia not from the region of former Yugoslavia), who is possibly one of the best ones we have.

Definitely a place worth visiting. If you let me know enough in advance I'll happily play the guide smile

Slovenia is not far from Trieste. Around 12 Kilometers and you cross the border. One of the good reasons to go to Slovenia, Toblerone, gaz and cigarettes apart, is that you have some cool and fine places. Here a picture of a wine yard, on the heights of P...

Europe at its best . Paradoxical to say perhaps as most European locations are obviously very old but the point being that these are some of the most untouched locales by modern infrastructure developments. Thanks for the wonderful photos. Cheers, Filip
