ADs vs Grey Market..

Are they really against it? Maybe not. Maybe they are FOR it.

Not to offend anyone but I heard a rumor which did make sense so I thought, I would share.

The rumor says, on rare, "hard-to-find" pieces; some ADs and/or Distributors are making deals with unauthorized dealers on a higher price than the listing, since the ADs and/or Distributors are not allowed to sell overprice.
They take the orders of the grey market and when they receive them, they sell overprice.
So, in a way, not only the production is limited but the ADs are making it available for grey market ONLY. That way the ADs and/or Distributors are making more profit, quick sell
and the value of the watch increases automatically more than it would.

The math adds up. Specially today, when we can easily find the "Oh! That piece is hard to get hands on", which is available at minimum 3-4 watch dealers.
Even if it is not available, it takes them one month the latest to make it available, specially when you pay the price.

Also, I have no clue how the unauthorized dealers gets these pieces when the ADs don't even take orders of it(?)

This scenario is applicable almost to every good watchmaker as well. So, the only thing I can think of is; there is an established "system".

and The "system" keeps the grey market alive.

We are stuck and I have no more to say smile

What do you think? If the above is not true than how ?
