My only modern Grand Seiko, which of course just happens to be a reissue of a vintage GS.
This one, released about a decade or so ago, honors GS’s first automatic wristwatch (the 62GS) which was launched in 1967.
Key design features of this one, versus other GS of the 60s and early 70s, are the crown at 4, the lack of a bezel and some pretty nice facets on the lugs.
This modern version is also a little bit bigger, I think the case is 37.5mm (don’t quote me) versus the original with was 36.5mm or so.
It’s also polished like it should for a GS, and takes the light very beautifully.
In my opinion some of the best modern GS are more directly inspired by, or are direct reissues of, vintage watches.
