Audemars Piguet dress watch in comparison
Greetings to all, I dropped out of the Purists a few years back, but now the bug has bitten me again in a small way. I am a retired vintage specimen myself, and that sort of watch has rekindled my interest. Also, though well muscled, I am very small boned. My wrists aren't made for today's goliaths. I just bought an Audemars Piguet dress watch that I think is about 20 years old. The case is only 33.5 mm. It is 18K pink (or rose) gold center seconds, date, a shiny cal. 2125 with lovely geneva bars, original Audemars strap and 18K buckle. It is in nice shape and I love it. My question is: How would this watch stack up against a Patek Calatrava of the same type and vintage (I believe the older calatravas had such small cases.) A watch maker who opened it and examined it for me when it arrived said he thought it was in the same league. I didn't take it too seriously, but then I wondered, just how good is this watch in comparison. Sorry no picture yet, I need to get rigged up for that.
