Baselworld 2016: Tudor- the ultimate report!

Where to begin, the resurrection of Tudor has been nothing short of remarkable. Tudor is no longer "the poor mans Rolex". I find Tudor tantalising, if Rolex is to Meryl Streep, then Tudor is Jenna Haze...yep, Tudor won't win any Oscars, but boy it will put a smile on your face..... smile

Tudor has allowed the naughty side of the Geneva behemoth to break free. We have seen the emergence of new materials such as  titanium, ceramic and now a bomb, I will stick my neck out, the most desirable bronze watch since the Panerai Bronzo 382. If Tudor said this was a limited edition of 1000 pieces, this would have been swallowed up within 10 minutes of the infamous leak on the internet.
So lets start with this monster, some facts, 43mm, in house movement, and delightful combo of chocolate and bronze. Amazing straps that compliment the bronze. Oh, and its an alloy of aluminium, which means its not going to go that horrible, green decayed look. In fact it will age (patina) nicely, and should match the PVD case back, which gives a hint to the final appearance of the bronze. Is 43mm too big?, I have a nearly 7 inch wrist, so you can judge for your self, but it looked amazing even on my wife's wrist (but then she did wear a Deepsea for a year, you wimps!)

so here it is, without a shadow of a doubt one of the stand out mainstream watches of 2016:

Now Tudor didn't just rest there....nope, the Black Bay has been updated with the new in house movement. It also now comes with a sumptuous oyster rivet bracelet!!!, BUT, the new movement does mean the case has gained just under 2mm in depth compared to the previous model, which also means no retrofit for the bracelet. Shame.
IF........listen carefully......IF.....you bought the Black Bay black already, then you have a pretty rare beast. This was launched last year, and discontinued already......instant classic????

Tudor tempt us with not just the new in house movement, but also a new version....welcome to the Dark side (pure sex with the bronze, now evil with the dark, naughty Tudor!!)
let me present the "Dark Knight"

Now the revamped Black Bay historic, and some close up images of the wonderful new bracelet. The new in house movement is of course COSC rated.
The vintage homage is now complete:

Whilst the new Black Bay collection stole the show, there was an update to the Advisor with a new dial:

And finally, a watch that took us all by surprise, but what a wonderful surprise. A new 36mm Black Bay (reminiscent of the old Explorer 1). I would not say this is a watch for ladies, but rather unisex.
It looks fantastic, its not going to be a watch for everyone, but for someone who does not want a 40mm , this is perfect as an everyday under the radar watch.

Thank you for reading, or just looking at the pictures!!!

Tudor hit the ball out of the park this year. Thank you to the Tudor team for being wonderful hosts.

Best
Imran
