Buying a watch from Amazon.com...
I was just on Amazon.com to buy some hair product (Crew Fiber in case you were wondering) and it came to my attention that they sold certain higher end watch brands as well. I was so surprised, in fact, that I had to call their watch department to find out some basic details. This is what I learned:
- First of all, this particular watch I was looking at is "sold by Amazon", not to be confused with "fulfilled by Amazon" or a third party seller.
- Amazon is not an AD therefore they do not purchase their merchandise directly from the manufacturer. Instead they buy the watches from Authorized Dealers. For what it's worth, the operator assured me that all their watches were certified and authentic.
- Because Amazon is not an AD, the manufacturer will not honor their warranty however Amazon will provide a 2 year warranty through their company. They supposedly work with a certain watch repair company exclusively Unfortunately, I can't remember the repair shop's name.
- Also, I learned that if you end up buying a high end watch from them, they will upgrade the shipping to 1 Day Delivery free of charge.
Have any of you purchased a watch (let's just say anything from $3,000 or more) from
Amazon.com and if so, how was your experience? Is going to an AD the better route to take 10 times out of 10?

I have no experience with Amazon watches, but I have seen several internet grey dealers offer their own warranty of 1 or 2 years on pieces. Obviously they use their own watchmakers, but I would be very nervous about this. And as many internet sales are in...

Amazon is an honest company and you call feel comfortable with any purchase from them. They also have a liberal return policy. If they are offering a discount, it's worth buying from Amazon. Plus usually you save the sales tax.
