Changing taste for watches

Many years ago I used to own a Panerai GMT and I loved it. But when I grew older and started to make more money I started buying Rolex and Patek Philippe watches. And now that I have turned fifty it seems that my taste in watches (and brands) is changing again. The craziness regarding almost every Rolex model starts to affect me. Even the simplest Explorer I is almost impossible to buy, so I have started taking an interest in other brands again, like IWC, Cartier, Breitling and Panerai. When visiting my AD in Amsterdam I stumbled on this one, sized 42 mm, sandwich dia, 1950 case and although simple and under the radar I really Iike it. I know it will not turn any heads out in the streets, probably no one will notice. But that is okay. I bought this one because I like it. I like the look. I like the history and I like the fact I did not have to wait for it or buy anything else to be able to buy it. Just the way it used to be when I started out over thirty years ago when I bought my first ‘real’ watch, which happened to be a Rolex Date. So maybe once I get older I might start coming back to brands which I liked in the first place, like this Panerai. I wonder what will be next, maybe a Jaeger leCoultre Reverso...time will tell. Here is my modest Panerai!
