Collecting Steiff Teddy Bears
In the recent news, it was reported that Teddy Bear sales went up during the pandemic. It wasn’t easy, and time hasn’t been kind to us for more than a year now.
I needed to smile more, having been told I lost the spring in my step lately. Buying watches has not been the cure to this - it made me happy only for a while, and life reverts to its usual chaos.
So I looked back at what made me happy, something child-like, something which reminds me of happier days.
The watch-nut in me is still alive, albeit latent. But the years of collecting watches have left an indelible mark - I seek rarity and perfection, of things made with painstaking detail and commitment. Maybe collecting bears will fill that void.
Could this be found in collectable teddy bears? Maybe...
There’s the old German company Steiff which got me hooked:
Humming Along, was a Steiff limited edition exclusive to the North American market
And this little bear, is only given when one gets certified as a real teddy bear nutcase. I joined the Steiff Collectors club and got it with the membership.

I would even go a bit further and think about getting a Polo Bear watch. Interestingly, I never really liked teddy bears when I was little but now on everything RL I do like them a lot!

I've never seen myself as a teddy bear collector, but now that you make me think about it it's getting crazy here...these are some of the cute bears who have literally turned our home in the US into a zoo, and they keep coming! ;-))
The scariest part is when they develop expensive hobbies...some are now big watch collectors, others steal my clothes, and a couple even started drinking... Anyways, my girlfriend and I (and our dog) like them a lot, so what can you do about it?!😎😉 ...

Every time when I am, for instance, in Vienna
where is a large Steiff shop, I take my time to have a look at the special items. But as far as now I have not bought another one, but I probably will.
