Cartier

Combining beauty with fun

I have always liked the Cartier Rotonde Jour et Nuit (day and night), a model from the discontinued CPCP series. When the model was changed into a tonneau shape about three years ago, I tried to bid for the rotonde version (albeit unsuccessfully) in a 2008 auction.

The same piece came up in a recent auction in Hong Kong and I decided to go for it...and....I was second time lucky smile

Here are the specifications of the watch:

Black hand-sewn full grain alligator strap

Guilloche silvered dial and central rose mortif

Day and Night complications with retrograde minutes

Circular-grained crown set with a sapphire cabochon

Rose gold adjustable deployment buckle

Manual winding

Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal

Transparent case back

Water resistant at 30 meters

42mm diameter

Without further ado, allow me to post some gorgeous pictures (IMO), taken by my friend Ogygia:

The mandatory wrist-shot, featuring yours truly -

I must admit that it took me some time to get used to reading the time on the dial - not very practical, isn't it? But the beautifully engraved disc is just too hard to resist...

Hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do smile

Sam
