Today (September 27) is the Mid-Autumn Festival in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. This means the moon will be at its fullest tonight. I posted a thread a few years back on the origins of the festival so I won't repeat it here. Astrologists say the moon is nearest to the earth this year based on its orbit and cosmetically, will be 7% larger than usual. The moon will in fact be at its roundest around 6:00 am (Hong Kong time). Unfortunately, weather forecast predicts it will be cloudy tonight and we will need luck to see the beautiful moon. Meanwhile, I have to compromise by marveling at the moonphases on my beloved time pieces....
First on stage is the IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar (boutique edition)
Followed by F P Journe Octa Automatique Lune (to commemorate 50 years of Chinese-French diplomatic friendship)
Two Lange & Sohne pieces in succession:
The Langematik Perpetual in PT
Quickly outnumbered by the Patek contingent:
Kicked off by a modest 5712G
The post will not be complete without pictures of the spherical moon featured by De Bethune
DB28
Hope you love the romantic moon as much as I do
