I'm sure I'm not the only person here who also regularly finds watch-related content on Hodinkee's Watchville app. I have to say that I've been struck generally by the paucity of what I'd call 'real content' on these blogs and the amount of stuff that seems clearly either paid for (''sponsored") by the brands or is just "hey here's a bunch of watches you should buy".
Just in the last 24 hours, for example (there are many other offenders, but these two in such quick succession really got me thinking), I have seen these two posts -
http://timeandtidewatches.com/list-10-actors-wearing-hell-jaeger-lecoultre-reverso/ - can we really pretend that the writer woke up one day and said, all on his own and without any prompting, "hey, I bet there are lots of well-known actors wearing Reversos, I should publish a list"?
https://www.deployant.com/glashutte-original-senator-excellence-perpetual-calendar-makes-great-daily-wearer-part-1/ - read the text, this one is even more blatant!
I didn't see anything in either about them being paid content. Is it me? Or is this just shilling? The more I see of this kind of thing the less I feel these sites have any credibility at all.
