Ferrari F40

This example is on display at one of our local sports car showrooms and I thought you might enjoy seeing some photos.

The F40 was produced between 1987 and 1992 during which time, according to Wikipedia, 1315 examples were built. The F40 was powered by a 2.9L twin turbocharged (16psi) V8 producing 352kW (471hp), but weighed only 1100Kg, partly because the Pininfarina design made extensive use of carbon fiber, Kevlar, plastic (windows) and aluminium. The F40 was the first road car to exceed 200mph and acceleration was around 3.8 seconds to 100 kph.

The aerodynamic design, low nose and partial undertray reduced the drag coefficient to 0.34.

The outer pipes exhaust from each bank of cylinders and the central pipe releases gases from the turbocharger wastegate.
