Is it just me, the new Overseas is a bit.....

Ok I'm just gonna say it, disappointing. No offence to the Overseas lovers out there, I also like the previous Overseas collection and couple of times almost took one home. The only down turn of the previous models was no display case back and most of them did not use self developed movements. So obviously I was pretty excited when they released the new Overseas. I had a couple of chances to handle the collection in the past month including the VC event today.

I really wanted to like the new collection, but just much prefer the previous looks especially the dial and case. I like the previous 8 Malte-cross bezel than the current one. I also prefer the previous textile dial to this dial. I have a problem with this shiny blue dial, as I think Richmont group have over killed with the shiny blue dial in the IWC Le Petit Prince collection and the current Panerai 689 / 690 etc. So they have ripped the unique textile dial and put in one that looks like other Richmont group brands. I don't think it's a good idea for Richmont to issue blue dial to everyone of their brands, IWC, VC, Panerai, Piaget, Cartier etc have all issued blue dial watches recently, which just makes the brand loss their uniqueness and make it feel like a huge corporate move.

I appreciate that they are offering interchangeable straps, but maybe be on of this, it kinda makes the case and bracket not flow together. If you look at the Royal oaks or Nautilus the case and brackets flow seemingness together. Also for those who don't know, interchangeable mechanise is not new. They had it in Cartier Roadsters 10 years ago. I love the clasp though, it's what caught my eyes 10 yrs ago when I saw someone wearing a VC.
