Is the Montblanc Star collection really necessary?
If you look at Montblanc's official website, you will notice two similarly named product lines:
The Montblanc Star and the The Montblanc Star 4810 Collections
It is very confusing .
The Montblanc Star collection is very conservative in design. If you looked at these models, they resemble the ones released by Montblanc ten years ago.
Then you have the Montblanc Star 4810 collection which is more contemporary. Would it be surprising to learn that Mr. Marcus Eilinger, the consultant who worked on the Rieussec, also had a hand in this watch?

It really depends on the way/strategy that Montblanc want to take in the future.... Montblanc has very deverse line of watches.... From quartz to Minerva..... I would prefer to see more from their Villaret range.... Cheers

I found out they are only offered in New York, LA, Houston, Chicago and Costa Mesa and 2 jewelers. Hope that helps!
I can see MB merging both Star and Star 4810 collections into a single collection
They look similar so why not combine them both and have 1 collection with fewer watches than 2 collections with more watches. - Anthony
Personally I would get rid of the conservative Star collection
and stick with the redesigned Star 4810 Collection. The Star 4810 is a modern look. Anyone wanting a traditional/nondescript mechanical watch can purchase with ease. Montblanc needs to shoot higher in its mechanical offerings, like what they did with the ...

Perhaps that is how MB sees it as well. It is just that most consumers will buy only one "nice" watch in their lifetime...perhaps two. MB has to spice it up to break into the lower range. I think MB is doing well with the Rieussec in the mid range. That's...
