Food & Wine

It's been a busy week in our kitchen

Of course St Patrick's Day called for some traditional cooking, as in corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots.

But it was also Mrs Cazalea's birthday this week, so I tried a little harder to dirty the kitchen with special combinations for her.

Early in the week I was able to grab this beautiful piece of halibut:

I crushed up some garlic, pepper flakes, herbs and so on to give it a bit of a kick

I had some shrimp too, while some roasted potatoes would enable me to call this "fish and chips"

The shrimp came in on thin slivers of lemon with some yuzu sauce

Finally we had our favorite avocade, orange (and/or grapefruit) salad.

There was quite a bit left over, and we mixed everything up to see how they tasted in one bite -- great!

The leftovers went into shrimp, halibut, avocado and citrus burritos the next day!

PS - luckily I didn't have to do any cake baking or balloon-buying, as some friends took that job off my hands
