Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger Lecoultre Navy SEALs Automatic.

Summer is approaching, the ideal season for diving watches.

The queen of the category, when it comes to modern diving watches, is the Rolex Submariner.

The Omega Seamaster 300 is a good contender.

Jaeger Lecoultre came at the 2010 SIHH with this Navy SEALs Automatic, just after the NAVY SEALs Alarm.

Compared to the Alarm, the NAVY SEALs automatic has a 2 mm smaller case ( 42 mm ) in steel, while the Alarm case was made in titanium.

2 mm which count a lot, as the Navy SEALs automatic, in the real, wears like a 40 mm case.

Without the Alarm, the Automatic looses one crown,  for a more classic look.

With a water resistance to 30 ATM ( 300 meters ), it is a good and natural contender, for those who are in the hunt for a good diving watch.

The Cal 899 is reliable, accurate, well known.

The ceramic bezel is resistant to scratches. I tested that point with my now 6 years old Navy SEALs Alarm, under water activities conditions, nothing to report, zero damages.

A diving watch ala JLC, with some key elements of design on the dial, inspired from the Master Compressor Memovox which took its inspiration from the Polaris, nothing less....

If I didn't own the Alarm, I would probably have gone for this one. But I am a big fan of diving alarm watches.

Ok, the link with the Navy SEALs will not be everybody's taste, but at least it is not written on the dial. Just on the case back, as some vintage military watches...

Just because there is a life outside the Rolex Submariner...

Best,

Nicolas
