Jaeger Lecoultre Odysseus Chrono, moonphase and date with a special feature...
Here is the picture:
( Credit picture: Aguttes )
It features an Odysseus, meca quartz movement, chronograph, date and moonphase.
Ok, you will tell me what's special?
The material used for the case, my friends!
It is...Tantalum.
Yes, you read well, tantalum. We are in the 80ies. It would be interesting to do a search and to try to find who else used tantalum at that time.
One thing is sure: It is the first JLC watch using such a material. We had to wait 2014 and the unveil of the Hybris Artistica Collection to see another Tantalum case, the Gyrotourbillon Three.
To be honest, I didn't find this detail alone, but it came in the conversation during a meeting with Stephane Belmont. And HE mentionned this Odysseus.
I would love to see more JLC watches using a tantalum case, in the Duometre line, for example, but why not a Master Grande Tradition, or a more affordable Geophysic... Or, better! A Master Ultra Thin!
And you?
Best,
Nicolas
