Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Septantième Platinum: My holidays watch.
Among all those I brought with me, the Reverso Septantième was the one which got most wrist time, which went everywhere with me, with the Rolex 6542.
I wanted to rediscover a watch I didn't wear for a while, several months, to be precise.
And the experience didn't disappoint me.
On my way for our Crazy Croatian Gathering:

In Croatia:
Lastra a Signa:

And Firenze:

On some pomegranates I found in Lastra:
Yes, this is the one which got most wrist time, this summer.
It proved to be a very elegant watch, that's obvious, but also a very pleasant one to wear everywhere, even at the seaside. I didn't test its water resistance, though.
In the very first moments, I just remembered its substantial weight on the wrist, but I surprised myself to forget it quite quickly, once used to it.
But I really liked its polyvalence: Formal, it naturally is, but it " knows " to not reject a formal environment. That is an important point for me, as I live in these two universes.
There is a thing I appreciated a lot, with this Reverso. As any other Reverso, it gives you the possibility to forget Time, since you can flip the case, which is an excellent opportunity to admire the 18 Kt White Gold movement and the col de cygne ( swan neck ), which are two important features of this watch. The Swan Neck is a bit outdated in this modern world, but it works very well with the world of the Reverso and highlights the romantic character of this watch.
While you are on holidays, Time is necessary to remind the different appointments you have with family and friends, but you don't want to be a slave of Time. For that, you have all the rest of the year.
Its 8 Days movement, quite unique in a rectangular watch- I just have in mind the Patek 5100 ( 10 Days ) and The Reverso Grande Date- is perfect for holidays, since you don't have to wind it every day, which is appreciable when you bring several other watches with you. Your fingers will like that. Winding several watches per day can be a painful experience. Even if it is a bit daring to complain to be lucky enough to be able to do so.
I would like to end with a last thought: These XGT cases were a seductive offer. From an horological point of view, since they housed the 8 Days manual winding Movement ( Cal 879 for the Septantième, 875 for the Grande Date, 879 for the Grande GMT, 874 for the Grande Réserve and 873 for the Grande Sun Moon ) which is discontinued for several years now, and also aesthetically. Ok its case is a bit thick, and the Tribute to Reverso is certainly finer, from this point of view, but it was and still is a pleasant " chap ".
And I am a big fan of this ruthenium dial and silver powder hour markers!
Best,
Nicolas
