Jean Dunand at the Beau Rivage in Geneva
The watches from Jean Dunand are each unique pieces with complications.
This year they are showing many different Tourbillon Orbital models and a Shabaka
The Tourbillon orbital has a one minute flying tourbillon which orbits the dial once an hour. These are watches to be lived with. In the space of a short visit one has no appreciation for the slow motion of the tourbillon around the dial.
On the front we see the flying tourbillon and the dial decoration.
The back shows the moon phase and the crown.
On the side we can see the linear power reserve indicator.
This watch has an Australian black opal dial, note how the opals flash changes in the light.
This model is fully set with black saphires
As each watch is a unique piece there are no demo pieces, these watches were all carefully unwrapped from their protective plastic for my pictures. For this reason too most are without straps. The straps are only attached when the customer makes their wishes known.
And finally a carbon fiber dial
The Shabaka has an instantanious perpetual calendar showing on drums in the dial.
That is good for the day.
So that you will be on time at night too the watch is equiped with a minute repeater with cathedral gongs.
This watch is exceedingly difficult to photograph. The dial is fascinating, very 3D, which you can only get a small idea of here.
The watch is not a chrono, those pushers are to make setting the calendar easy.
