Just for the pure pleasure of sharing my Explorer...
The Explorer ref 1016 from 1965 is a clear example of the philosophy of design of Rolex in the late 50's and 60's: a tool watch, tough, reliable, simple with an easy to read dial and hands.
This example with gilt gloss dial and thick lume indexes makes me smile every time I view on my wrist. Just need a better seconds hand to make it perfect to me.
The Explorer is one of my favorite Rolex models. It is elegant and low profile. It can be worn with sport or formal clothing. It got such an strong personality!
It hasn't receive (yet) the deserved attention from collectors.
But I feel that considering the course of values reached by other models lately this will change soon. After all ... Isn't this the real James Bond watch?
