During a brief stopover in HK. Mr. Olivier Muller,CEO of Laurent Ferrier, presented the latest time only watch with the Galet Micro-rotor to a small group of enthusiats.
He explained the efficiency of this particular micro-rotor which is fitted with an exclusive double direct-impulse escapement in silicon directly on the balance, which improves efficiency by about 30% - from 300 rotations to approx. 200 to complete a turn of the rachet wheel. The gold micro-rotor is unidirectional - winding and to ensure maximum stability & shock protection is mounted using the principle of the silent bloc. The more traditional horological mechanism with pawls is used instead of the noisy ball-bearing system and the barrel is mounted on rubies to optimize winding power.
This understated, elegant watch is 40mm. and comes in WG & RG but I understand Platinum can be specified on request.
Present this year at Baselworld, this new addition from LF should find great appeal from those who are dedicated to the highest level of watchmaking in the traditional "old school" philosophy with modern technical upgrades.
The venue had charming ambience but this also means the lighting wasn't ideal for photos. Pls. therefore bear with these quick & dirty pics. Thanks for looking.
