Looking for some thoughts and opinions...

 

I presently have a 38mm Calendrier in PT with an older brass movement. It was purchased a few months ago and it has relegated my other daily wearers to the watch box. I tend to wear it 4 or 5 days out of the week as long as I am not traveling. Surprisingly, I really like the 38mm case size eventhough my initial preference was for 40mm version.

The reason I mention that is I have been looking to add a 38mm CS in PT. I think I have found one at this point, but it is now complicated since I have now seen a preowned Octa Lune as well as a Octa Divine. I think I was most surprise by the Divine, finding it much nicer looking in person that photos. I didn't find it all that busy versus the impression I had from photos.

At this point, I am trying to decide between the 38 CS and the 40mm Octa Lune (with a RG dial). The Divine is not a real contender since it was in RG versus PT.

Chronometre Souverain - 38mm - PT
+ Simplicity of the arabic dial
+ Manual wind movement
+ Perfect case size
+ Very discreet, not likely to garner attention

Octa Lune - 40mm - PT with RG dial
+ Like the added complications
+ Similar to my Calendrier in style, but different complications (great moonphase) and dial color.
+ Great value preowned and looks like new
- 40mm case fits fine, but it does make the watch more prominent (& a little top-heavy). If I opt to use the deployant from Calendrier would it take away the feel of the watch being a bit top-heavy?
- RG dial is unique, but may make the watch appear dressier

I have to say I really like both. I think the Lune comes across as more impressive with the added complications. The CS, however, may be the tortoise who eventually wins on its stunning simplicity and versatility. I think I am learning from this is I might want another Journe no matter what I decide. I was hoping you might share your thoughts on either of these two watches. I also curious to know if you think either one works better as a "Black Label" version. Thank you

Really a decision for you to make, but a couple thoughts

...The Calendrier and the Lune, while different, do have a similar offset dial which give them a similar look. The CS is unique in that respect as the dial is centered. As you already have an Octa, adding the CS would give you a brilliant, simple piece in...

I much prefer 40mm Journes over 38mm. I do not care for the gold dials . . . I saw several today . . . really do not like them. I prefer the Octa dials (more interesting), but not if it comes with a gold dial. Based on the foregoing, and your current piec...

I have to say I would take a YG dial over the RG version, albeit I still like both. I am not overly familiar with the Black dials, having only seen one (Auto Res) in person. I don't think it was the best representative for that dial combination, lacking s...
