Manual winding the Patek automatic movements?
Has someone experienced automatic movements in Nautilus or Aquanaut watches breaking down as a result of manual winding? The manual winding mechanism feels very fragile and I was wondering whether manually winding the crown 25-30 times each time to start the movement may adversely affect the movement in the long run. This is when you wear the watch on the weekends and don’t keep it on the winder during the week to keep it running. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I don't think so. I normally wind my automatic watches manually for 10-15 times just to give initial start and then wear them. Nothing has gone wrong.
It has butter smooth winding that doesn't mean it's fragile.
Been doing it for many years: no issues.
But I do only wind until the watch starts, then let the automatic rotor take over. I have heard that some automatic movements have less robust manual winding mechanisms. Not sure if this applies to any Patek movements, but my sense is that it’s not an iss...
I wind my automatic Pateks daily
25 to 30 turns and they seem fine. When you say fragile, do you mean the turns are ultra smooth? They are supposed to be that way

Patek Philippe winding is not my favorite... Not a lot of feel.
Lange watches have great feel! Fantastic feel! It's like a nice notchy stick shift instead of a dull rubbery one.

you should try my Montblanc Heritage 38 with the Caliber 62.00 Minerva movement. I think they designed it not to wind too smoothly so it appears more mechanical.
Any other Patek automatics besides 7234 and 5212?
Asking because these are newer references. Wanted to see if you have had another auto Patek for few years and it’s been fine with regular daily winding?

The 5940G with a silver dial but admittedly, I keep that on a winder most of the time.
Just wind with both fingers (don't wind with one finger as this puts unnecessary pressure on the winding stem) and you'll be fine.
They're fragile, but they're not that fragile.
