TimeOut

March 7th.

A day that will live on in memory-and almost in infamy.

After walking around Paris in (wait for it) rain; sleet; hail and snow-all in one half hour, I made it to the Lange Boutique where I made a new purchase. ( I posted details separately-as did Fx.) Sometime during the morning I received a mysterious email directing me to go to Le Bar Lussac at 7:45 PM. A bit nervous, I reached out to Ian (iANNY) whom I knew to be visiting Paris now as well. Ian eventually committed to meeting me there and quelling my fears.

Who else should appear but Nicolas, sender of the mysterious note. The three of us then proceeded to have a wonderful evening of talking: about watches, of course, but also about cities, and travel, and cars and politics (lots of politics) and life. A great night!

In fact it was so much fun just talking with Nico and Ian that ended up only taking one watch shot:

A very special "proto-type" owned by Nico-he can tell the fantastic story behind it.

After dinner came the moment when all hell almost broke loose-when the day could have descended into pure and unadulterated horror.
Our server (obviously a friend to Nico and therefor someone who should have known better) asked us if we wished for dessert. And the next thing you know...

Poor Ian!!!!! I think what saved him was my camera flash which momentarily distracted the Vlad! Once he slowed we were able to explain that the server was referring to profiterols.

You will notice that I wore a "blood red" sweater-hoping to fend off Vlad by making him think I'd already been bitten. (Indeed, I HAD been bitten in the Lange Boutique earlier!)

Thanks you, Nicolas; and thank you Ian, for a most enjoyable night out in Paris. It's fun to meet people for the first time that you only know on a Forum: but when they are so extraordinarily nice, such as Nico, Ian and Francois-Xavier, it lends so much more fun to participation here.

All the best    Padj
