Greetings to all! The title above is a bit tongue in cheek, as you will see...
I suppose that most of you have heard about the unreal auction results from this past weekend -- a GT40 for $10MM and so on. Vintage car prices seem to have gone completely insane -- my hope is that this apparent bubble will collapse, but one can never tell about these things.
I didn't play with the big boys at the auctions, but did bid on a car that I've wanted for a long time:

Yes, that's right -- the Fiat Jolly 600! Originally built in small numbers for use at Italian seaside resorts, and the perfect vehicle (it says here) for toodling back and forth to the grocery store in California. Who doesn't love a car with wicker seats?
I first fell in love with this car when the auction prices were about $20k USD -- which seemed pretty rich at the time! By the time I was ready to pay $20k, the ante was $30k, and so on -- the hammer prices for the two cars that sold at auction this weekend were $70k and $75k. Guess I should have gotten in at $20k... Of course, I also should have bought that Ferrari 275GTB 2-cam for $225k, but that's another, more painful story.
Oh well -- some day perhaps, at least on the Jolly! As time permits I'll try to post more car photos from the weekend.
Best,
Gary G
