very recently after reading and inspired by the Graham's post on roll call for Speedies, eventually got my first Speedmaster which is also my first mechanical chronograph (my first chronograph was a quartz watch bought many years ago, but i still keep it in the box). this new catch for chrono has stimulated me the interest in history behind chronograph development, especially the journey of chronograph jointly developed by Omega and Lemania. following with line of these learnings, it caused me to hunt for 2 vintages watches made by Leminia. because of limited and competing fund i have at the time of buying, i didn't go for 1st generation of Speedmaster (housed with Cal.321). instead, i went on for its 2nd generation and also successor of Speedmaster which housed with Cal.861. both of these movements were jointly developed by Omega and Leminia. reading from some blogs written by Speedmaster collectors, they comments that actually Cal.861 is a more reliable movement than its brother of Cal.321 (i don't have watch with Cal.321, so i can't further add any comments on this aspect). another reason why i went for Cal.861 partly because seemingly if looking at the dial of both models (i.e. Cal.321 vs Cal.861), they look like the same, expect the Omega logo is applied on the dial for the Cal.321 model, and for the Cal.861, the logo is printed. however, it is not end of the story because i don't think they just have such small difference between two models. thus i went to look at both dials again and compared their dial pics side-by-side carefully, i found two more differences as follows (sorry if this is not a new found and in fact was mentioned by others previously): 1. for Cal.861 model, the shape in the end of second hand is blunt instead of pointed 2. for Cal.861 model, the letter "E" of TACHYMETER printed on outer bezel instead of È anyway, just took some pics for my Speedmaster and also some pics for two Leminia watches to share with you here. thanks for reading and wish you all a happy Easter. stefan
