Hi,
I had a nice surprise arrive for my 50th birthday. I had ordered this watch from Al Armstrong back in April and Blancpain had told Al that the watch would not be available until sometime in June if I was willing to wait. To my surprise, Al gave me a call that the watch had arrived early (it happened to coincide with my birthday week).
The watch is a nice addition to my collection. Sporty and slim; easily fitting under the sleeve of a dress shirt yet you could also go for a swim with it on. It kind of fits between my IWC AT and GO PML in terms of style. Here are a few photos to share with the forum.
The dial is quite clear to read with its black hue, lumed hands and appliqué markers with a large date mechanism for these tired old eyes.
The “Blancpain” logo is nicely engraved into the case at the 9 o’clock side of the case. The case is quite convex in its taper towards the case back.
The screw in crown is protected from above by a circumferential case detail and by the side with localized features.
The watch has a display case back showing the Frederic Piguet caliber FP 1150 (or should we now say Blancpain..
with a FP 69 large date module.
The -71 bracelet has a nicely machined butterfly clasp.
The finish on the bracelet is very nice. It does not however have a micro-adjustment so an asymmetric link configuration was required for a good fit.
And finally, here it is in-situ, on my wrist where it belongs.
I was very happy to find this watch, given BP current direction (the Leman line being discontinued). Lastly, I was also told that this was the LAST 22 mm type 71 bracelet that BP had in inventory. The watch really takes on a different character on a bracelet vs. a strap IMO.
