F.P. Journe

new Journe fan

I'm new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I just discovered FP Journe actually.  I have been wanting a Lange 1 for a while and found that  this watchprosite forum about a week ago. Over the last couple years it seemed the Lange 1 would be the perfect watch for me. I must say most watch brands and models don't do much for me and there are very few models I would ever like enough to buy. The Lange 1 was at the top of that list with nothing else trailing close behind...except perhaps a couple other Lange models ;-)

While browsing the Lange forum I saw the pics posted by CL under the thread "which you like least".....and this is the first time I laid eyes on a Journe timepiece. It was love at first sight. So completely different from anything I had ever seen....and simply perfect!  So naturally over the last few days I have been devouring any and all info I could find on th web. The more i find out the more I am in love with this brand.

I love that so few pieces are made, that they amazing works of art and that there is nothing else like them aestetically. Someone in this forum mentioned they looked a little bit mad scientist....and that is the perfect description. While I still love the Lange 1,  Journe(especially the Remontoir Tourbillon) has completely turned the tables for me and I still can't believe such amazing designs exist.

So now it goes without saying Journe is at the top of my list. I've been wearing a Rolex for the last several years, and while it is a very practical sports watch, I've grown bored with it and the fact that everyone and their grandmother is wearing one(especially here in Switzerland). I want something special, interesting and beautiful.

I'm headed to Paris tomorrow and can't wait to stop in the couple ADs that have Journe so that i can finally(after 5 days;-)) see one in person. I can't believe no one in Zurich carries them....

Quick question about the Octa reserve de marche. On the Journe website it gives the size as 30mm....but i have seen this model on some dealers websites where they give the size as 38.5mm or 39mm. Does this come in two sizes? I love this model but think 30mm would be way to small for me.
