Jaeger-LeCoultre

Nicolas, I guess I need to add myself to the Duometre roll call...

as I just took this Duometre a Chronographe out of the bank safe after a long stint and I am at a lost for words on why I put it away in the first place. As Nicolas would say, it is one of the most interesting, if not the most, chronographs in modern horlogy. Putting it up next to a Patek 5070, Datograph up/down, or any other high caliber chronograph makes one see why the Duometre is so special. The combination of the beautiful and grainy dial, the complication itself, and the exquisite movement just pushes it over the top for me. The platinum case along with the platinum grey dial makes it hefty but in a good way. I currently have it on a black and/or grey JLC alligator strap but plan on custom ordering a special tanning navy nubuck alligator strap from ABP to bring out the blued chrono hands. I think that will enhance the watch nicely.

I took these photos for you Nicolas but as you know well, the grainy dial is a nightmare to try and capture. I used a DSLR (Nikon D750) with a Tamron 70-200 VR2 and a Nikon 50mm inside a lightbox and still struggled to capture the grain. I think several of the photos are slightly out of focus since I shot them freehand so maybe next time I should use a tripod to get them razor sharp. I changed the settings on the camera multiple times and in the end had to manually adjust ALL settings (ISO, shutter speed, aperture, etc...). I also took a couple photos with my Samsung Note 8 and strangely enough and to my surpise the photos were pretty good, I dare say almost as good as the DSLR.

Please have a look and let me know what you think or if you guys have any suggestions on what I could do to try and capture the dial better. I probably just need a dedicated MACRO lens which would be the easiest solution.
