Ramblings from a visit to two new boutiques, sorry no pics
Unfortunately no pics, so not sure why I am writing this, but.... maybe I write it down for myself....
I was in the UAE recently, and had the pleasure to see their two new boutiques in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and the wonderful staff they have working there....
I got to see...
1. Rose Gold Zeitwerk (beautiful piece, but I think it works better in white metal... the jumping minutes are mesmerizing)
2. Saxonia Perpetual Calendar (beautiful small dialed and thin piece, looks very becoming on the wrist)
3. Richard Lange in pink gold (apart from the RL PLM, which is a different story altogether, I have not found a time and seconds only watch that I desire more - but again prefer the white metal)
and 4.....
number 4....
wow, number 4.....
4. Datograph Up/Down....
It is actually the first time for me to try on the dato in the flesh... I have not tried on the old Dato, so have no reference for comparison..... and in a way, I am glad... because I tried on the new Dato in all its beauty, without thinking of older versions etc..... and .... wow.... holy )&(*&_(*&_* (**_&_)*_)(^^#& #&&......
I am so sorry I didnt get a chance to take pictures, as it was an unexpected visit...
But my god.... the Dato.... this is THE quintessential watch.... it made me realise a quest for many different watches from many differing and great brands is futile... because nothing can top this watch.... I have seen the pics, the movement pics etc, and have though it wonderful... but actually putting this watch on my wrist????? Is there anything else left in the world of horology? After a Datograph, can another watch purchase give you this much pleasure, this much satisfaction? I am not ready to buy this year, but am looking hopefully next year.... and I am happy because the search of all the pleasures in horology for ME, is available in one single watch.... The A. Lange & Soehne Datograph Auf/Ab.....
For me, this is perfection...... utter, supreme, mind blowing perfection....
Sorry, just wanted to open up my feelings for a watch..... Anywhere else I will be taken to the asylum, but here, I think I might find like minded fellows!
Now, even if I want to look at a none Dato watch.... it is another Lange... I have never wanted to be a one brand guy, and my pockets are not deep enough to allow... but holy crap.... what a brand... pls pls stay as you are, don't change to produce more watches, advertise more.....
Anyways, back to the medications
Blown away, Imran!
p.s the staff in both the boutiques are very knowledgeable and friendly, a credit to the brand.
