I’m so happy to announce my latest acquisition and it’s been something I’ve been contemplating getting for quite some time and now that I’ve pulled the trigger, I wondered why I waited so Long !
This ap perpetual calendar calibre was launched way back in 1978 at the peak of the quartz crisis and was such a hit that it practically saved them. AP had since made many different iterations using this same calibre and I especially love this openworked skeleton QP as it showcases all the technical expertise and innovation that they have to offer at a time when it seemed like the industry would cease to exist.
They not only made a mesmerising work of Art but also the slimmest QP at the time and even though it didn’t have a leap year indicator in the first iteration of their calibre, AP found a way to set it to Ensure that the calibre would know when it was the leap year and factor in the extra day in February (just learnt that the other day too from an AP watchmaker at singspore svc cntre ! Kudos to AP svc Cntre Singapore! )
All in all, for the price in the secondary market for such a timeless complication , the precious metal case, and the level of finishing on the movement , it was a no brainer really !
Thanks for reading!
