oh what did I do!
I asked some time ago about a vintage Rolex that I still could use as daily wear and exposure to water. The feedback I got pointed me to a 16660 which I think is a wonderful watch with the matte dial.
Last weekend however, I visited my AD to have a look at current offerings and was also shown the DSSD.
What to say....a lot is wrong with the watch: so thick, band not level with the lugs, band too small, imposing, a kind of show off watch etc.
And I loved it! Don't know why, it is a complete atypical watch for me, loving more classical watches with the biggest that I have being a IWC 3712 Portugieser Rattrapante and the Richard Lange in PT.
The weight is still ok as I'm used to the RL PT.
I think however that I often would wear it on a nato (cordovan or classic).
Please say I'm crazy, and if not that will be the way forward for my beach and sailing watch! Close to take the next step.
Some pictures of a combo I think work for me (form a certain RM)
Best regards,
Dirk

Aaah, Dirk. That is a surprise, coming from you.

As the DSSD is a real thick, heavy and big watch, with a lot of cons, but a lot of charm too, just because if its cons. Will it be a lasting love, I don't know, but for the moment, the most important is that you love it, and that you have fun with it. Let...

superlatives to describe the DSSD. However, it isn't for everybody but if it works for you, that's all that matters. :) The bracelet does provide an excellent fit, with adjustments, even for smaller wrists. How does it wear with the Nato? Some wrist shots...
