Omega Globemaster - opinions?
Killing some time at Zürich Airport today, I checked in at the Omega Boutique to see if they had a Globemaster for me to try on. While it did not look good initially - the sales assistant did not even know of its existence - I at least had the chance to try on the Seamaster Bullhead (in the limited Rio 2016 edition). That was an exercise in surprises - it was much lighter and appeared much smaller on the wrist than I feared, at the same time the looks of the Rio Edition did not convince me at all. I know, taste is a personal matter and I still want to try the more conventional white dial one but the first impressions were mixed.
Just as I was leaving, I saw it in all its glory - they had two pieces after all
Find the size excellent for my less than brawny wrist and I am definitely a fan of the pan pie dial. Were I to get it it may turn out to be the white dial, grey strap option but the blue was certainly alluring. What I liked somewhat less was the case finishing, which I found less impressive. The fluted bezel will possibly not be to everyone's taste, but is definitely something different for a modern day Omega.
But sat really well on the wrist, was of a good size, with a very nice dial and a signature Observatory in the center of the otherwise transparent caseback. It is sensibly priced and while it has a date, it is at least on a dark coloured date disc, so not as disturbing as it could be.
Anyone else given it a try? Impressions?
