I have been putting vintage Omegas on my wish list and subsequently removing them for a while - for the very reasons you have stated, namely do not feel that confident yet and do not have a trusted watchmaker.
Would definitely like a Co-Axial piece and next to the SM300 this sings to me nicely. Apart from that it's the Snoopy that's probably my favorite

His example appears to have a date at 6 o-clock. I personally wouldn't mind to see a dateless version. The pie pan is reminiscent of my favorite connie.
