This graph shows the results differentiated, disclosing the ranks of the votes:

Before I can try to subject these data to any kind of analysis, I should point out that 98 votes are a very narrow statistical base, especially since these do not come from 98 different people. 36 individuals entered their votes, so the results reflect their taste. Fortunately, our site is privileged in uniting watch enthusiasts from all over the world, so national and regional differences in taste seem not to be an issue in our poll. However, it is universally known that thePuristS.com readers are a class of its own, so some results may be very different from what the sales figures would suggest. Prominent example for this is the relatively poor performance of the Navigator models. I know that they are selling very well, and seem to be very popular, but in our poll, all navigator models together received only five votes, with three of them placing them in the third place only. This seems to indicate that our readers are not the typical pilot-watch fans.
Another indication for the class of our readers is the good rank of the two exlusive tourbillons, the Alfred Helwig, and the new PanoMatic tourbillon. With 7 and 9 votes respectively, they are among the most preferred GOs. More than half of the Helwig's votes place it in the first place, which says a lot about the desires of our readers ...
Now let's have a look at the chronographs: Here, the picture is very interesting. All Pano-series chronographs (PanoRetroGraph, PanoGraph and PanoMatic Chrono) together received 29 votes, nearly 30% of all votes. this tells a lot about their popularity. A massive contrast to this marvelous performance is that of the modular cal.39-based chronographs. The two classic-looking Senator chronograph models did not get a single vote, as did the Sports chrono, and even the two navigator chronos received but two votes. It seems that this movement is now nearing the end of its time.
I was not surprised to see the PanoReserve receiving the second highest number of votes. The high share of first places seem to be the sign of happy owners. Overall, I think, it is legitimate to state that the design of the Pano-series, which at first was not met with unanimous applause, has become a full success.
Compared with this, the Senator line got relatively few votes. Originally, I had expected a rough 50:50 performance of both lines, but to my astonishment, the Senator panorama moonphase received only two votes, the Senator panorama date even got none at all. Only the Senator Perpetual is extremely popular, and looking at the various threads in the general watch forum WatchRap, it is considered a must-have by all collectors of perpetual calendars. This is of course due to its highly legible layout. While I had expected this, I was surprised by the rather good performance of the Senator power reserve. The lack of the large panorama date made it possible to make this attractive watch cheaper than most others; a decision that seemingly attracted many people to the brand.
The virtually inexistent performance of the Sports line shows that GO has missed tha chance to make this line really attractive for GO fans. The company is aware of this, and we will see some drastic changes in this respect very soon ...
Finally, I was a bit astonished by the poor performace of the date-only models, both the PanoMatic Date and the Senator panorama. It seems that most GO fans would readily spend the small surcharge for the additional complication, and take the moonphase watches instead. Especially the PanoMatic Lunar is popular, however, the dominance of the 2nd place votes, compared with the high number of 1st place votes for the PanoReserve is somewhat surprising. Here, a better statistical base would be urgently needed to see if this corresponds to a real trend or not. Maybe GO should think about a way to make the date-only models more attractive to the collectors and fans?
And what about the ladies watches? As far as I know, only two ladies participated in the poll, and they preferred the more complicated gents' watches. So the lack of votes for the ladies line does not reveal any real trend at all.
As I stated at the beginning, this is my very personal interpretation of the data. Please feel free to dispute or agree. Maybe you have different impressions, or want to offer other points of view? Your opinions are welcome!
With best regards,
Marcus
