Precision and Robustness of Different Grades of Same Cailber

My question is regarding different grades of the same caliber, for example the Eta 2824-2.

As far as I understand, other than decoration and aesthetic finishes, the main difference between a chronometer grade, a top, an elabore, and a standard grade is, of course, the accuracy and precision of the timekeeping.  I understand this has to do with some details of the escapement and attention to adjusting the movement's performance in the various positions.

What I am curious about is whether there are any trade-offs.  Are chronometer grades of calibers more delicate than the lower grades?  Which would stand up to abuse better?  Would service intervals vary between the grades? An AK-47 isn't very precise, but it's really tough.  Ferraris are beautiful, but finicky--I certainly wouldn't want to have one for use on dirt and gravel roads all day.

Thanks so much!

Jon
