Questions About the Dials on Ceramic Bezel Steel Daytona
Like many Rolex collectors I am intrigued by the new ceramic bezel Daytona (116500LN). I have read many reviews and looked at countless images but have yet to examine either the white or black in person.
I noticed that while the 116500 white dial is obviously different from the white on the 116520, namely black circles in the registers, the black dial looks like it might be identical to the black on the 116520. On the Rolex website, both black and white dials are described (in the brochure for 116500LN) as having a lacquer finish.
I imagine some of the Forum members have received a ceramic 116500 Daytona and/or have examined it carefully in the metal. I would greatly appreciate any observations you may have regarding differences in:
1) The white dial on the 116500 vs the 116520, other than the black in the registers? Including, does the white background appear more "lacquered" than on the 116520 dial?
2) Is the 116500 black dial exactly identical to the 116520 black? Are the registers different in color or finish? Is the lacquer effect different? Is it a different shade of black?
And directed to all Forum members (whether or not you have seen the 116500 in person), which do you prefer, black or white; and why?
Thank you in advance to all those who care to share their observation / opinions. Greatly appreciated!
