Questions on the certificate of origin and extract from archives
Dear All,
I came across a Patek in auction house, with the word "Duplicata" printed on the certificate of origin. That watch was distributed by Henri Stern Watch Agency of US. I have never seen that wording before. Does it mean the certificate is a duplicated copy instead of the original one?
Besides, for that particular watch, the date of purchase/ sale on the certificate of origin is slightly different than the extract from archives (Feb 6, 2006 on certificate and Jan 5 2006 on extract). Is it normal?

From Patek I never seen the word 'Duplicata' on any Extraits des Registres (Extract of the Archives) or Certificat d’origine (Certificate of Origine)
It is always better to contact Patek directly, usually they answer rapidly. Do include all the info and copies of the documents (photos etc...)
Thanks, PoyFR. Haven't asked Patek directly yet. But the auction house said it is an official duplicate from Patek, as the original owner has lost the certificate and he was an important client.
it is the first time for me to know that the certificate of origin can be duplicated or reprinted.
I think that the date of sale in the Extract is the date of sale from Patek Geneva to the distributor. You might want to confirm that with Patek. The
date of sale in the Certificate Is of course the date it was sold by the AD to the buyer.
