Horological Meandering

I am considering adding a second JLC, and an opportunity has presented itself to acquire this watch, black/slate grey on rubber strap. I haven't seen it in person, but the photos are appealing, as is the complexity of the movement. I notice that it has been discontinued. Should I be concerned?
Was there a problem with the movement etc.?  Is the watch "durable" enough to run with, swim with etc?
I also have the opportunity to get the Reverso Gran sport on steel bracelet. I already have the Master Calendar on strap, with the bracelet coming next week, si I kinda like the rubber, as well as having something on the reverso side.
Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
