Royal warrant. Who should get it?
Hi All,
A previous thread about which watch would be appropriate if one was going to meet the Queen made me think about which watch (if any) hold the 'By appointment of the Queen".
A quick search lead me to
royalwarrant.org where I discovered that the only watch company with such distinction is Cartier. Needless to say that being more a jewelry company than actually a fine watchmaking company I was surprised. Cartier don't have a good reputation for in-house movements (don't take me wrong, but their watches although beautiful to some are not precisely state of the art watch engineering).
The Cartier appointment is by HRH The Prince of Wales and was granted in 1994. Don't know why Cartier do not publicize this fact as many other brands do. In this world of limited editions one with the Royal Arms on the dial would be something logical.
Being a requirement to be obsessed with quality and product reliability (AND being a supplier for more than five years), which watch company do you think deserves such a distinction? Does anyone know if there is a brand associated with the Royal Family?
Cheers
