Independents

Some of my watch/movement designs.

Hi everyone,

If you guys are interested here are a couple of my movement/watch designs. smile
Some of them are a bit extreme I know, but I tried to come up with ideas that I haven't seen before. I designed them mainly for learning and for fun.
With each design I try to improve my CAD designing and rendering skills. The quality of the renders aren't that good, but you can see more or less how each concept looks.
Let me know what you think of them.

CONCEPT 1.

I think this one is rather cool. So basically this movement has a 3d moon display, like a Christiaan van der Klaauw,
an hour and minute display, a separate seconds display on the left and a power reserve indicator at 6 clock position. Apart from the barrel which comes from the ETA 6498 all other components I designed from scratch.

CONCEPT 2.

This is a dual balance and dual timezone concept movement. Essentially it has two gear train system that are connected to a single barrel. In theory the power
reserve would be quite bad, nontheless I think it looks pretty cool. smile The time on each time zone can be set independently, left crown for left zone, right for right zone and winding.

CONCEPT 3.

This is a 3 axis tourbillon movement with a rotating 3d planet. I chose Jupiter since it looks cool and it has a very fast rotation period. (turns once in roughly 10 hours)
I designed the gear train to represent each rotation accurately. (I know it's completely useless complication, but it's not much worst than a moon phase display) smile Also, I haven't seen something
like this before. Anyway, the 3 axis tourbillon is based on Bexei's Primus watch. I wanted to see if I can design something similar based on his fantastic watch. (I'm still working on improving it)
The idea for the shape of the case came from the MB&F Frog watch. The crown is in a weird position, but I had no space to put it elsewhere. smile

CONCEPT 4.

Now, this one is rather unusually I know, but again, I haven't seen something like this before, so I though it could be interesting. The idea behind this was to display time without hands.
I though instead using traditional hands I use the "fire" from the dragon to display the hours, minutes and at the bottom the power reserve.
The base movement here is the ETA 6498. I added a power reserve indicator to it and a sliding retrograde module to display the hours and minutes.

CONCEPT 5.

This is a 30 degree four minute double tourbillon based on Greubel Forsey's 30 degree double tourbillion. smile With this project I just wanted to understand how it works,
and design something similar, again to improve my skills and knowledge.
