Sorry, another Nautilus picture/post. And some musings.
It’s a special watch for me as it’s purchase represented an important life event. It also remains the only Patek in my collection, even though I’ve been thinking about some others for a long time.
The 3970 has been on my radar for several years. For me, the smaller case and classic / vintage styling is the attraction. The modern iterations are too large for my wrist.
And the World Time, the first Patek that I really wished to own. Of course as the years have gone by my love for the WT has grown strong, to the point where it’s become a grail for me. The cloisonné enamel dialed WT preferably the previous generation and either YG or RG. Although I think the current reference is attractive also, 2nd choice if you will.
I’ve thought many times about using the crazy market values of the Nautilus to trade up to the WT. But I always held back, as the Nautilus is such a perfect watch for me. And because it was bought to recognize an event and so there’s an additional attachment.
This post was inspired by as I looked through some old pictures this morning. Most of my watches are locked up in their hiding place at this time and because I’m not really going out I haven’t been rotating really.
This was the picture I scrolled across, it was taken 19th October 2016.
