The Andersen Genève Communication 45

The Andersen Genève Communication 45 is a limited-edition Worldtimer launched in 2025 and marking 45 years since the brand’s founding.

Since the Communication 24, which was Svend Andersen's first Worldtimer, launched in 1990, many other models have been made, which I listed here: Overview of the many Andersen Genève Worldtimers.

The Communication 45 will be made in three distinct 15-piece series, each with a central dial map depicting one of three regions: Europe, Asia, or the Americas.

THE COMMUNICATION 45 - EUROPE DIAL

The 3N yellow gold case is made by 83 years old and long-time collaborator Marco Poluzzi in his workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds (owned by AG since 2022) without the use of CNC machinery.

And its wonderful and distinctive lugs combine:

  • The teardrop style of the original 1990 Communication 24 case designed by Jean-Pierre Hagmann.
  • And a fuller, more sculptural cornes-de-vache profile.

The centre dial is made of 21-carat BlueGold, which is kiln-heated to achieve a burnishedcognactonality and engraved with the Andersen Genève customary wave-form tapisserie.

The dial map features landmasses hollowed out and infilled with pure gold.

The cream-toned city ring features a new, bespoke font for perfect legibility, while the two-tone 24-hour ring features embossed numerals for the night, and recessed numerals for the day.

The case measures 38 x 8.97 mm (excl. crystal). And the skeletonised, sword-shaped hands are made of yellow gold.

Inside the case is a reworked vintage A. Schild S.A. automatic movement paired with the ultra-thin in-house worldtime module, originally developed by Svend Andersen for the 1990 Communication 24.

Fully hand-finished, the bridges feature delicately frosted surfaces in high contrast to the chamfered and polished bevels and mirror polished screws.

The BlueGold rotor, meanwhile, echoes the pattern and colour of the dial.

The case features traditional Cottier-style crowns on each side.

The look and fit on the wrist are simply stunning, imo.

It is very rare for a modern watch to have as much class as an older vintage-inspired one, but that is the case here in my opinion.

THE COMMUNICATION 45 - ASIA DIAL

Now, here are some photos of the dial with a map of Asia.

As for the dial with a map of the Americas, I believe it's not yet in production; at least, I haven't found any photos of it. I'll update this post when photos become available.

So, what do you think about this anniversary Worldtimer? Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?

The only thing I would personally change if I could is that I would replace the automatic movement with a manual movement.

But this would also mean changing the design of the crowns to make daily winding pleasant, like in the Patek Philippe ref. 2523 below, powered by manual winding caliber 12-400HU

This would therefore significantly change the design of the watch...
