The cork was a total mess!
I ended up having to pour it through a funnel layered with a coffee filter. I was worried, but after the first several sips I can say this1983 Margaux is tasting beautifully. Very elegant and balanced. I was saving it for July 1st, which is our Canada Day, but like a kid on Christmas Eve I was a little impatient to start the long weekend and opened one present early 
They say many of the 1983 Margaux are corked. I’m happy this one is not.

That's a great wine,very approachable.
Had it a few years ago and itwas drinking very well. You have a real treat there---enjoy. One of my favourite vintage Margaux. best henry
