The New Year finally brought......
the fulfilment of a dream that has been with me for almost six years now.

Since the day it was presented in Basel 2009 and since I had the
chance to try it on in Dresden only a month later I was lost to the GO
Senator Chronometer.
But on the same trip to Dresden I had to learn
from Our Man In Glashütte that the manufacture had no intentions
whatsoever to make a Stainless Steel version.
So the dream remained a
dream for years. I did not add another GO into my small collection
since then because I knew that this would not mitigate the desire for
the Chronometer. I also was tempted by some beautiful Chronometer style
watches like the Wempe Chronometerwerke CW3, the D. Dornblüth Quintus
Auf/Ab or the new Robert Mühle Power Reserve. But still I knew that
these would only be attempts to substitute the One (which of course
would work for a short time at best).
Then last year's April
Nicolas suggested trying to find a used one because I still was not
ready to do the investment necessary to get a new one. Half a year later
I decides to browse some offers and immediately fell across a new one,
offered at the price of a used. From an Glashütte Original AD in
Germany! It caught me completely unprepared and boy, I was in trouble.
There was the serious chance to go for the Chronometer, but was I ready
to do so? It was still in a range far from wherever I had gone before.
Heart over mind? Reason over passion? It took me a week before I called
the dealership, not really knowing if I should hope that it was still
available or not. It was...
And now it is here. I cannot say how happy I am. A dream came true.

MichaelC has written a great review of the Senator Chronometer. So I am
not going to bore you by repeating things he wrote so well.
But you will have to bear the unavoidable wrist shot:
What a way to start a new year!
Have a great new year everybody,
Martin
