Horological Meandering

The watch that started it all for me 22 years ago.

This Hamilton Quartz (60’s -70’s ??) Gem is the one that started my love for watches.

I consider this Hamilton my first” good watch” , I found it in a local antique store back in 1989, I believe I paid around $130.

Oh man..was I ever smitten by it ! I loved the shape of the case, stunning textured dial with beautiful applied indexes and logos, the awesome feel of the high quality glove leather strap with rich looking tang buckle and the supremely accurate Swiss quartz movement is great, it didn’t seem to suck much juice from the battery at all, only remember changing it 3 or 4 times. I still think its one awesome looking watch today.

Now the sad part…its hasn’t worked for about 7 years, I’ve sent it in to Hamilton and various other recommended watchmakers with great reputations with no luck, they just cant work it. Its sad to me knowing the fate of the watch that started its all for me is to be stashed away in a drawer never to tick again, I guess this is the disadvantage and fate of most quartz watches.

Is there a Quartz movement Guru out there that can help me out ??? I think this thing is done.

I meant to type "started it all for me" wish I could edit it.
