The little windows on The Freak's caseback make it simple to know when you need to wind for the next 7 days +/-. Spring stacked on the outside, you're about out of fuel.
Tools of the trade always make things easier (but really not necessary here, IMO. Easy enough to use your fingers).
Powered for the next week.

I'm glad to show it then! I knew how it wound before I got mine...
But I never experienced it first hand before it arrived. It seems part the the charm of owning the watch.
It is a good system, congruent with the watch as a whole.
I have been winding it maybe every 5-6 days, you can do it whenever you wish.

That tool is seriously heavy.
It has a rubber ring on the back that connects to the caseback for winding. I love any well made item.
I admit, I have never wound a watch in this fashion before.
So yes, I definitely enjoy it.

Out of my mind. Thinking hard between the Lab and the one you have.
Tought call. Maybe as simple as if you want a date or not.
I still prefer the cleaner look of the Freak Out Cruiser type, but if you like the date and extra textures of the Lab, go for it! Keep us posted

Good question actually. The answer is there is not a precise indicator...
I would say the 2 photos I posted closely represent the extremes of "almost empty" and "fully wound", as you can see how the spring is stacked. I can add a photo in a few days of a "half wound" type of look, where the spring will be more evenly space from...
