TimeOut

Tourist in San Diego, Part 3

Continuing our series, we are walking with the tourists, in places we normally wouldn't go, but we do it for y'all here on WPS. We are now into December ...

and we find ourselves in Liberty Station, a re-imagined Naval Training Center which has been developed into a retail, artistic, theatrical and recreational center.

I've posted on this before HERE

but today we see a different side,

Note the "winter" appearance of the grounds, including golf course, walkways, lawns and gardens.

We started in a shop called Pigment, which specializes in colorful garden-related items.
I liked the fact that they have a few things for men -- like the G-Wagon 4x4s with cheetahs on top. These are NOT toys, they are manly accessories.

Color and design matched tiny succulent gardens. There was a guy hard at work with tweezers and chopsticks assembling these tiny vases. I told him about WPS as he apparently has "watchmaker genes".

Woman-only shop (my appraisal by sight and smell).

These buildings were barracks and training classrooms, built about 100 years ago.

Today more colorful and friendly.

Colorful stained glass.

Rare falling leaves and autumn colors.

More typical foliage here:

Kid-friendly fountain... I am almost ready for lunch after looking at this burger on top.

There is actually an outdoor skating rink operating between Thanksgiving and New Year. Today it was empty so a friendly gal gave us a private demonstration of some of her skating tricks! 👍

Ouch that makes my back ache!

Typical tree around here, not typical anywhere else in the world.

I Should have brought my camera's dark sunglasses!

Hungry, we headed home for a California Winter Lunch (avocado toast with cheese, smoked salmon and hard-boiled egg, badly-peeled)

Thanks for walking with us and the Seiko Perpetual today.

PS Liberty Station is near the airport. I hope this post gets to you in Japan sooner than this JAL flight does

Remember, this is not a toy. Vroom, vroom.
