Vintage daytona rarity?
I was curious to hear other people's views on the vintage daytonas, and specifically the Paul Newmans. It seems to me that there is no way of telling just how many PN dials there were in various references. Supposedly, some 20% of the 6239s ended up with PN dials, whereas only 5% or so of the 6262s or 6265s had the PN. I appreciate that there can be no quantifiable way of "knowing" how rare these beauties are, but for those who have been following the Daytonas for prolonged periods of time, empirically would your experience of having seen many many Daytonas agree with the idea that 6262 is probably the rarest along with the 6265, followed roughly in order by 6241, 6264, 6263 and then 6239? I'd love to know what the history of experience has been from collectors of actually seeing these watches?

so there were a lot more of the 39, 40, 41 and 62s than there were 63, 64 and 65s....suggesting that the latter were rarer? But what i am getting at is, over time, some of you guys must have seen many many PNs. 100s even? I cannot remember how many i have...

You make many valid points. In fact the point list you have made- I did the same in my head. Your excercise is saving me money ;) I don't like screw down pushers- they are so bulky. So no Oyster PN for me thank you. Solves a big problem already. I do like...

the amount of 6239 , 6263 and 6265 steel cases produced is the same. also the amount of 6262, 6264, 6240 and 6241 is roughly the same. to make a comparison for example the ratio between 6239 and 6264 steel cases produced is in the range of 8,8 : 1 .
