Vintage Guys - an advice needed
Good evening,
I'm thinking about servicing the newly acquired vintage Rolexes. I have two alternatives:
1. I know a very good Finnish watchmaker who has professionally been servicing Rolexes for some 20 years. He has also been working for a RSC. However, he left the importer and is on his own nowadays. He can surely service my watches very well but he can't issue any "official" service documents.
2. Take the watches in pairs to RSC in London. I would give them clear instructions what to do meaning not to touch the dial and hands. Anyhow, I would get the service documents.
Imagine that the price of the servicing is not an issue (it's anyhow cheap compare to the crazy prices of vintage Rolexes).
What is your advice?
Thanking in advance,
Kari

He recommends a person you can trust. As you mention your compatriot, now here is a silly question. Why don't you ask KV? That would give you a nice paper. And give you the opportunity to discover much more... Btw, did you know KV liked (some) Rolex too.....
Do you mean Kari V.?

As far as I know, he is having his hands full with the new creations. Furthermore, he is located in Switzerland and I visit Switzerland only perhaps twice per year. One day I might go and have a closer look at his watches. Still today there are so many un...

I'd go with the Finnish, without a second thought. The papers ain't gonna be any use if the service is botched up, or not to your satisfaction. That's my humble opinion. All the best! Rishad
